Castello di Vicarello

Built in the 12th century from ancient Roman ruins, Castello di Vicarello is located in the heart of the Maremma region in Tuscany amidst beautiful rolling hills, olive groves, and vineyards. Castello di Vicarello is privately owned by Aurora and Carlo Baccheschi Berti who both had successful careers in the fashion world abroad before returning to Italy to create this magical retreat, which will soon celebrate its 900th year. The couple discovered Castello di Vicarello in 1978, after it had changed hands several times amongst noble Italian families. Aurora and Carlo eventually acquired the castle and spent more than a decade meticulously restoring Castello di Vicarello to its original splendor before opening it as a luxury retreat in 2003.
